Davo
I'm writing this mid-day, on my laptop at Mateo's.
As planned, I talked to Yunie this morning. I met up with kyr at Mateo's early morning, as usual, and asked kyr about Tara. Kyr initial response was to laugh. I'm unsure if kye was laughing at me, or just laughing because kye thought I was joking. When kye stopped laughing, kye gave me a shrug. "I don't know" kye said, motioning toward Cadence who was carrying a fresh pot of coffee. "You wouldn't be doing anything immoral since you don't really have any obligation to Misha."
Cadence made her way over, topping off Yunie's coffe. "What's so funny?" she asked.
"Davo's crushing on Tara" Yunie said, taking a sip of kyr coffee. Kye winced slightly, the coffee being a little too hot, but kye was never good at waiting. Cadence smiled, amused... I wasn't sure if she was amused by Yunie or by me.
"I wouldn't say 'crush'" I said, in a way that probably gauranteed that she thought I had a crush. "Just like, a bit of a connection, ya know? A little one."
"With Tara?" Cadence asked, seemingly in disbelief.
Yunie struggled to contain a smirk. I really wasn't quite sure what they were both on about. "I'm sorry Davo, it's just... Tara's ridiculous."
"And you know it's bad when Yunie's saying it" Someone said behind me, sliding up to the counter. It was Azura, Hunter's friend and another fairly frequent customer at Mateo's. I smiled at her, it had been a while since I had seen her. Before I could greet her properly though, Yunie interjected.
"I'm not ridiculous, I'm just passionate. Tara is ridiculous."
Azura scoffed. "She's a little flaky, but I mean who isn't sometimes?"
Yunie laughed. "I guess Davo's not the only one who has a crush on her, yeah?"
Azura shook her head and turned to me. "Hi Dani, it's good to see you."
I nodded. "You too, Azura. It's been a bit."
"Okay so... ignoring Yunie for a bit. You're into Tara?"
"I genuinely don't know..."
Azura shrugged. "Why don't you just like, ya know, sample?"
"Sample?"
"Yeah you know like, try it out? And if you're not into her or she isn't into you, you can just kinda move on."
"Elegantly put." Yunie scoffed.
"Yunie, please, the adults are talking."
Yunie frowned and spit back... some sort of insult I think. I'm not sure, I started to space out a little bit at that point. I excused myself from the counter, allowing Yunie and Azura to bicker on their own. I made my way to an empty table across the diner with my laptop, and then it was now.
Maybe Azura is right, maybe I shouldn't overthink it. Yunie seems to have some sort of chip on kyr shoulder about Tara. Maybe they had a history I didn't know about?
I don't know. Maybe it's just because she's the one saying what I want to hear, but I decide to take Azura's advice. Later tonight, I'm gonna go talk to Tara.
